What The Remix is

AI is changing how we work, create, and make decisions. The Remix helps people make sense of that shift.

Through events, workshops, and shared learning, we help people understand what is changing, connect with others asking similar questions, and build practical skills they can actually use.

TWO PATHWAYS

Find your lane

Some people are already building with AI and seeing the impacts firsthand. Others are still working out what this shift means for their work. The Remix is designed to help both find the right entry point.

YOUR STARTING POINT

Where you're at

You do not need to have it all figured out. Find the stage that feels closest to where you are now.

Curious

Just getting started

AI is on your radar and you're starting to explore what it means for your work.

Exploring

Trying things out

You've started trying tools and testing what's useful, but it's not yet deeply embedded.

Building practice

Using it with intent

AI is becoming part of how you work or what you create. You're ready to use it more intentionally.

Building systems

Building real systems

You're already building workflows, automations, systems, or deeper applied practice.

LOCATIONS

Where it happens

In-person across the region and online, so there are different ways to step in.

CAPABILITY JOURNEY

How capability builds over time

Capability does not come from one event or one tool. It builds through orientation, practice, shared learning, and real-world application over time.

1

ORIENTATION

Orientation

Get grounded in what's changing, what matters, and where to begin.

2

FOUNDATIONS

Foundations

Build shared language, practical understanding, and a stronger base to work from.

3

PRACTICE

Practice

Use tools in real scenarios and start developing repeatable habits.

4

WORKFLOW INTEGRATION

Workflow integration

Apply AI to real work, decisions, and team processes.

The goal is not just to attend. It is to keep moving.

Common questions

Short answers to questions we hear most.

What is The Remix?

The Remix is a community born in Byron Bay that helps people and organisations make sense of AI in the reality of work. We run free events as open entry points and paid workshops for deeper capability building, organised around three pillars: AI in practice, creativity and making, and the nervous system.

Who are the events for?

Events are designed for two groups: Appliers — people who want to use AI better in their existing work — and Builders — people building products, agents, and systems with AI. Most events are open to both.

Do I need technical knowledge to come?

No. Free events are designed to be accessible regardless of technical background. The focus is on practical judgment, not technical depth. Builders events go deeper into implementation and are better suited to people already working in code or product.

Where do events happen?

The Remix was born in Byron Bay and that is our home base. Events happen locally at venues like SAE Byron and the format also travels — we run sessions in other locations and online when the work calls for it.

What is the difference between free and paid events?

Free events are open entry points — sense-making sessions, community conversations, and introductory topics. Paid events go deeper: more applied, more specific, more curated, and focused on real outcomes. Both are high quality. The difference is depth and duration.

What are the three pillars of The Remix?

The Remix is built around three pillars: AI in the reality of work — where it is actually useful and how to build judgment, not just fluency. Creativity and making — ceramics, live performance, and the irreducible human layer no model can replicate. And the nervous system — because you cannot think clearly or create well from a dysregulated state.

Can my organisation bring The Remix to our team?

Yes. We run workshops and capability sessions for teams and organisations. These are more applied and tailored to your specific context. Reach out through The Signal Studio for organisational work.

Do I need to be technical to join Builders sessions?

Not in the traditional sense. Builders sessions attract a mix of people — developers, ops and systems thinkers, product people, and others who are building with AI in practice. The common thread is working at the level of how things actually get built, not just using finished tools.

Is the Builders track for beginners?

Builders sessions assume you already have some grounding in AI and are ready to go deeper. If you are earlier in your journey, the Appliers track may be a better starting point. Some sessions are open to people arriving with curiosity and a willingness to get hands-on.

What kinds of things do Builders sessions cover?

Sessions focus on agents and agentic tooling, workflow design, systems and automation, and the role of human judgment in practice. The emphasis is on what actually holds up in real use — not theoretical frameworks.

Are Builders events hands-on?

Most Builders sessions are structured around applied work rather than presentations. You are expected to arrive with something you are working on, a question you are testing, or a system you want to compare notes on. Formats vary — labs, teardowns, build circles — but the intent is always practical.

How will I hear about the next Builders session?

Join The Signal newsletter. We announce upcoming Builders sessions there first. You can also check the events page on The Remix.

Who is the Builders track for?

The Builders lane is for people working closer to the technical side — building workflows, automating processes, designing systems, or experimenting with agentic AI. You do not need to be a developer, but you are probably someone genuinely hands-on with how AI gets implemented.

Come to the next event

Every event is a front porch. Turn up curious, leave with more clarity, and find your next step from there. No experience needed.
